or should i say "dobry den!" (dobreeden)...that's HELLO! another czech word i've learned. so far i can count to four and say a few things/phrases. not that it will get me very far in another country aside from the czech republic..but hey, whatev.
today was good/has been good. so far it is about 8:30. i just had my first one-on-one lesson with my student. her name is vladimira. she is a fun gal. she wants to learn grammar and writing. oh what fun that'll be! it is odd that we as americans run away from subjects such as these, but she is running toward it. odd how that works. we talked quite a bit about religion and she told me that the soviet pretty much ruined the idea of church for the people; and that the fear is still in them about going to church. how sad is that. it is quite a shame for sure.
hopefully i can do somethin to fix that at least within her.
anyhow, today in class i was supposed to prepare a 20 minute lesson for a local czech student. so i wrote one over prepositions... and the student did not show up. neat-o. so we had to pretend to be students who couldn't understand english... and we taught them...a subject they already knew. hopefully the czech students show up tomorrow. i don't have to teach in class until the week after next! woop! relaxation time! ha.
i am excited, though, b/c on my way home i found this place called municiple court, and the are basically a HUGE orchestra...and they are playing gershwin on the 20th! i am sooo excited to go! the are playing all his good songs like rhapsody in blue, summertime from porgy and bess, shall we dance, etc. etc. WOOHOO! so incase i forget, please remind me of that! it is like 45 bucks to go...but when am i going to get to go see that again? so that is my convincing.
okay, i have to go edit some pichas. talk with you all later!
